Cindy Patton introduced our speaker for the day, Cathy
Ramshaw. She is an unpaid volunteer for the Net Reach Topeka Youth program. Her
presentation was an enlightening but sad story of one little child that wound up
living with them and about the conditions in the Hi-Crest area of Topeka. She
pointed out that there are no grocery stores within walking distance and for
people without vehicles, the only source of food are the convenience shops which
are high price and not nutritious. The Net Reach program is trying to reach
those in the area with the help of Harvesters.
Nancy Foster indicated that the flowers would be delivered to her house on May
8th.
Winners of drawings were:
Ted Heim - H&H
