GRETA HAMM…with Midland Care gave us an insight to the services available from hospice care with Midland. Two guiding principles being Respect for the individuals who are being cared far and to help the client and the family know that there was dignity in the loved ones death.

TED HEIM…will have the opportunity to grab a foul ball Thursday night as he is the guest of the Kansas City Royal’s and has been selected to sit in the Buck O”Neil “good citizen” seat. Ted is only the fifth Topeka residence to be so honored. Well done Ted.

SELL THEM…pancake tickets. Saturday, September 1st is our next pancake/baked goods event for this administrative year. A sign up sheet will be going around this Friday but please put down on your personal calendars to help out.

IT WAS… reported eleven years ago when Junior Elder said he was moving to Oklahoma 75 members showed up for the weekly meeting. Well rumor has it he is going to go to Overbrook so that should be good for 35 at this weeks meeting. ( or was it Scranton?)

Ticket winner was Mary Jane Elder. The badge of David Kensinger was called. Our speaker Greta Hamm won the candy bar for attendance.

“The Alchemist Pot”
“Citizens Input = Community Outgrowth ”
August 17, 2012 Vol. 1 No. 40

 HEARTLAND VISION…seeks to elicit citizens input as to what tangible things they would like to see improved, added or created to make Topeka a better Community in which to live. A prime example is the creation of NOTO, North Topeka Arts District. an area where over 20 artists have come together to open stores to exhibit their creations and artistic skills. Riverfront Walkway, Airline Service are just two of the other areas where ideas are being discussed.

WELCOME…Carrie Lancaster. She is our newest member. There is still time for you to help other Topekan’s to see the light and join this Friday bunch of lunchers.( O.K. So I created a couple of new words!)

THE MEMORIAL SERVICE…for Rowland Hyle was last Saturday and our club was well represented. Leland Kimball had gall bladder surgery and is doing well.

Ticket winner was Margie Denton. The badge # of Junior Elder was called. And yours truly won the candy bar for attendance.
