June 15, 2012
Vol. 1
No. 32
80,000 PEOPLE …from 49 States visited
the Children’s Discovery Center in its first year of operation. (Where are you
Delaware?) Jamie Crispin, from the Discovery Center, brought us up to date on
all the activities and events available at the Discovery Center. The inside is
designed to help children from ages 1 to 11 learn through playing. Outside there
are new walking trails with another 4 ½ acres yet to be developed.
School field trips enjoy the many activities and
over 300 volunteers help all he visitors have fun. Try it! You too will have fun
and enjoy the Discovery Center.
TWO LADIES…from the Shawnee County
Health Agency will be our speakers this week.
Alice Weingartner and Allison Alejos will bring us
up to date on all the services available from the Health Agency as well as
comment on the recent sale of their building.
Rod (another winning ticket) Obermeier split the ticket pot
AGAIN! Don Lee had his bade number called to win a SMORE and Joanne Kensinger’s
names was called from the attendance list. A few people thought she had a home
field advantage.

Alice Weingartner and Allison Alejos…of the Shawnee County
Health Agency gave us an in depth look at the many services available through
the Agency. On average, on a yearly
basics, almost 7,000 people receive one or more services. The Agency is always
looking for new services to offer and how to expand their services. Thank you
Alice and Allison for your presentation.
WEATHERMAN…Tom Hagen of Kansas First News will be our guest
speaker and hopefully will tell us when this heat wave will break.
We are seeing MANY days of 100+ days ahead of us. Stay out of the Sun and
drink that water.
$30 FOR UNDER 30… Another quick mention that for the rest
of this administrative year and ALL of NEXT administrative year any one age 30
and under, who joins our club can join for only $30 dollars.
Mike split the ticket pot – The badge number called was our
favorite #6 or was that #9. Either way, neither was in attendance. The SMORE
went home with Ted as his name was called from the attendance list.
