A BIG ATTABOY!!!...A great big THANK YOU to immediate Past President, Ron Brown, for his leadership this past Optimist Year. Well done Ron.
ATTABOY TWO!!!...A second big THANK YOU to Clayton McMurray for his many years of editorship of the "Official Club Bulletin." Clayton is on temporary R&R from putting "Pen on Paper." All of us look forward to when he can author this page again. The position is currently being filled by Ye President (a short prayer is advisable).
TRIFECTA DUTY…Current International Board of Directors member Judge David Bruns did triple duty as our guest speaker to start the new administrative year off. He installed the new officers for the Topeka Downtown Optimist Club. He officially installed two new members and third he gave us a current update as to what is happening on the International level regarding Optimist International.
GUESTS…Turn into New Members. First meeting and we have our newest member—Joanne Kensinger. OK! OK! Joanne has transferred her membership over from the Sunrise Optimist Club. Their meetings are on Tuesday mornings at 6:30 AM. Let’s see—hmmm 6:30 AM vs 11:30 AM. Rumor has it we will be two for two come next Friday. Come to lunch this Friday and greet Joanne and meet and welcome another new member.
PANCAKES…Rod gave us a financial report on the October 1st pancake/bake sale. A little over $900. When all pre-event ticket sale monies are turn in we hope to reach $1,000. Thanks to all who worked the event and double hip-hip-hooray to those who stayed and cleaned up.
BOARD MEETINGS…Board meetings this year will be on the third Tuesday of each month. We will meet in the board room of the CoreFirst Bank at the Downtown location—9th & Kansas. Board meetings are open to all members who would like to attend. We welcome you to join in.
INK BOTTLE MAGIC…Milton Caniff entertained millions of readers daily with his exploits of Terry & the Pirates and later those of handsome Steve Canyon. All WWII and Korean veterans will find this a great deal of fun and very informative as well as reliving those dales of "Male Call" and the lovely Miss Lace! Oh—Junior, you Spanish-American veterans will like it also. I SAID ALL YOU—oh never mind. It will be my great pleasure to visit with you about Milton-Terry and Steve.
Leland Denton split the pot—Clayton missed being there and Margaret Brown had he name called for being in attendance.
ONE FOR THE ROAD… Twinkle, Twinkle
